Celebrating a decade as a celebrant. The most incredible journey that has been a constant in my life throughout all the ups and downs the last 10 years has brought me. What an absolutely joyful experience and pure privilege to be the chosen officiant for a marriage. All those late night Saturday evenings I have spent writing to bring happiness to my couples, with my faithful dachshund Duchess by my side. I've turned up to every ceremony I have ever been booked for, despite my own divorce, death of my grand mother, remote relocation and other difficult times. I have travelled thousands of kilometres to show up in a colour-co ordinated outfit to be my best for your wedding day. I have emotionally counselled many anxious couples to feel less nervous as the main focus of attention on their day. My business as Cloud Nine Ceremonies has been my proudest professional achievement. I have walked away on extreme highs from outstanding compliments and also questioned myself with the lack of feedback from others. Technology can be a barrier to achieving perfection, whilst reminding myself nothing in life is perfect. Just know that if I was your celebrant, I put my heart, soul, artistic and creative ability and perspective into writing and delivering a bespoke ceremony that was unique to you. What will you look for when booking a celebrant? S

What will you look for when booking a celebrant? Some are driven by cost. Others believe that the ceremony isn't a key component to a wedding day and want it over as quickly as possible. My ceremony style is bespoke and personalized. With all of my ceremonies, I put the same amount of attention to detail in. A standard ceremony for me is 20 to 30 mins. I don't recommend shorter than 20 minutes, irrespective of if my couple choose to do legal vows only or personalized ones. I don't offer a price reduction for a legals-only style ceremony when it's full attendance wedding because unless it's just the 2 of you, plus 2 witnesses (and even then I custom-write meaningfully), I believe it's embarrassing to stand up in front of your guests who expect a ceremony of substance, for it to be over in 5 minutes. I feel it's short-changing everyone who has made such an effort to be part of this special day. I believe a wedding ceremony to be one of the most important rituals and celebrations in life and one that should be written and delivered with a perfect blend of fun, romance and sentimentality. The wedding season has sprung back into action for this celebrant! After a break of 3 months spending my weekends running Save the Bilby Fund tours at the Charleville Visitor Information Centre, it was time to crack out the microphone 🎤 and my fave red lippy 💋 and hit the road with my hubby for a mini-break to Quilpie! The Lake is a gorgeous outback property. My couple, Rickie and Jenny were surrounded by family and friends, guard dog Blaze (in his own tux!) and the rings were delivered mid-ceremony via motorbike.
